Mourning the Death of a Stranger

Our last encounter

like the Earth creating diamonds

not -

like a god, but

with sheer force of will

more like a mortal

then, underground

I felt a force around my heart

a familiar grip

sandwiched between strantgers

a rogue tear

wandered down my cheek

and it was like

taking a shower

on stage

I tell myself I've been assigned the task

of mourning a stranger's death

but actually it was the way

you lived

that touches me
